Metacognition is basically thinking about your thinking or knowing about knowing. Metacognition can be used in different situations, like discussing in a group, or having a fight with your parents. I have been using metacognition, without noticing, because i've never thought of a word for thinking about your thinking. There are 2 strategies to metacognition; metacognition conversation and think aloud. Sometimes when i do work, i say my words out loud so that i can do my work clearer. When i use these strategies, it helps me think quicker and faster. For example if you were to make a clay animal, and you use think aloud, saying what you are going to do, will help you complete a lot faster. This strategy helps you become more aware of your own knowledge and our ability to understand, control, and manipulate our own thinking processes.

  1. Charlie, the clarity of your writing really stands out. One of the nice things about metacognition isn't that it adds a new process to the mix, it is something that many of use already do, yet we are not always aware of it - we just become more aware. I am pleased you can already see some of the benefits.
